Ignatius Sancho and Malorie Blackman	This activity is adapted from one of a series of lessons and resources designed to support the teaching of the transatlantic slave trade, now part of the KS3 curriculum. However, it could work as a single lesson to encourage students to explore the contributions of Africans and Afro-Caribbeans to British society.

The philosophical questions produced will depend on how much background knowledge participants have and how critically they can engage with the lists they produce. This might be a good activity at the beginning of a series of lessons about history and the slave trade. Philosophical questions: Why are black people mostly famous for the same things? Why don’t we know much about black people in history? How do people’s ideas change? What is fame?
