A book about 25 children ranging in age from 5 to 16, with origins all over the world and now living in Lancashire. They talk of their lives, their families, their hobbies, and their beliefs.
The first section of the book explores the differences and similarities between these young people through interviews and photographs.
The second section has background information on all the countries represented in the interviews and statistical information that enables the reader to compare the countries.
The purpose of the book is to celebrate the diversity of Lancashire, to challenge some of the stereotypical ideas that threaten to divide us, and to show how much we have in common.
The material is suitable for primary school and lower secondary school pupils. The accompanying teachers notes are for Key Stage 2 teachers. There is a range of different text types and levels of writing, making the book suitable for mixed ability teaching. An ideal resource for Citizenship, Literacy Hour, Geography and History work.
