We have specifically designed the following courses to provide schools and educators with the support you need to bring the global dimension into the classroom and meet your curriculum requirements.

We can adapt most of the course to be offered as a twilight INSET, full day in the classroom or spread over a number of weeks, to suit your needs.

Fri 10 - 4pm 09/12/2011	Storytelling With Young Children: The Global Dimension Full day inset Ghanaian storyteller, Miso'shi, will enable teachers to find creative ways of exploring popular stories such as 'Handa's Surprise'. The course will enable teachers to use stories to introduce the global dimension, particularly concepts and activities around diversity and global interdependence. This participatory course is for Foundation Stage, KS1 & KS2 teachers who wish to develop their own storytelling skills with their pupils, and/or who are interested in bringing global dimension concepts such as diversity and global interdependence into the classroom.

Tues 4 - 6pm 31/01/2012 Weds 4 - 6pm 08/02/2012	Local History: The Pendle Witch Trials and Contemporary Human Rights - Twilight for Primary Schools 2012 is the 400th anniversary of the most famous ‘witch’ trials in England. This twilight session will enable teachers to find ways of engaging pupils in our local history, as well as the historical and cultural events that will be happening around Lancashire in 2012.

Fri 4 - 6pm 01/03/2012	Equality in the Classroom This twilight session explores ways of dealing with prejudicial and racist incidents and bullying in the classroom, and examines what terms such as ‘equality’, ‘difference’ and ‘diversity’ really mean. Led by an experienced facilitator who has worked in multicultural urban Canadian schools, the police and the army, the session will inspire you to believe that schools founded on equality and inclusion are possible, if imbued with a whole school equality

Weds 4 - 6pm 14/03/2012	Engaging KS3 pupils in Science for National Science and Engineering Week - Twilight Session This twilight session will show how looking at the ethical philosophical aspects of science can engage students and increase their appreciation of the importance of science. It will also introduce games or methodologies that can be used to enhance teaching and learning in science classes.

Fri 9.30 - 4pm 01/06/2012	Global Teacher Award: Level 1 Full day course providing participants with the reflective space to explore concepts, knowledge and approaches related to the 'global dimension', and how this relates to our practice as teachers. The 'global dimension' includes concepts, values, and practices relating to diversity, sustainable development, interdependence (the local-global links), human rights, conflict resolution, social justice and global citizenship.
